Unidos por los Michis is a cat rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and TNR project based in Mexico City.

Founded by Geo and Miryam Quezada, It began from an emergency cat rescue spread on social media where both met and decided to continue as a cat shelter team.

Current Situation

Mexico faces a severe crisis of homeless and stray animals. Poverty, low rates of pet sterilization, and high rates of pet abandonment drive the overpopulation.

The scale of the problem also places significant pressure on animal welfare, as abandoned animals face hunger, disease, injury, and exposure to abuse.

Story of Coco

He was rescued along with several of his siblings by Unidos por los Michis. They were living in cages in terrible conditions and were going to be used as bait for fighting dogs. They were all very thin and extremely dirty.

Coco, in particular, had severe intestinal problems and was in very fragile condition. But thanks to the veterinary care he received, he was given a new chance at life.

Despite being an older cat with special needs, Coco was able to find a loving home that provides him with the food and veterinary care he needs. Despite all the abuse he endured, he will always be grateful and continue to give lots of love.
