Turkey’s so-called “Massacre Law”
This 2024 law has put millions of strays at risk. It requires already overcrowded and underfunded shelters in Turkey to collect stray animals for vaccination, sterilization, and adoption.
In reality, rather than strengthening sterilization and vaccination efforts, it has led to mass collection, overcrowded shelters, neglect, and the killing of healthy individuals.
The anti-stray rhetoric that accompanied this legislation has also fueled an increase in the mistreatment and abuse of strays.
In response, Paws of Hope Rescue Turkey are dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs through rehabilitation and adoption, ensuring they find loving homes abroad.

A second chance for Hope
Hope, once a affectionate neighborhood cat, was brutally tortured by a group of adults and left to die before the Paws of Hope Rescue Turkey team saved him and gave him a second chance. He fought to live while enduring unimaginable pain. After six long surgeries and months of recovery, he has become a symbol of resilience.
Today, he is living his best life with a loving family in Germany.
