New Suspect Revealed in Ongoing Investigation Into Online Cat Abuse Network

Following the exposure of Shanghai lawyer and serial cat torturer Yao Yuan, Chinese volunteers exposed yet another member of the cat torture network. On 22 April 2026, they revealed the identity of “Sunny”, an abuser who gained notoriety in late 2023 by torturing cats, kittens in particular in extremely cruel and grotesque ways. Sunny is Ma [Fei], a man in his 30s living in Pingdingshan, Henan province, China. He was making photos and videos of cat abuse since at least 2023. He is a core member of the cat torture network, was admin in several groups, he reduced his visibility around mid-2024, but was continuously abusing cats until his exposure. He is one of the most prolific abusers, it is estimated that he could have tortured up to 1500 cats until now. He received a 10-day administrative detention as punishment for disturbing public order – a punishment that doesn’t fit his crimes at all.
