Investigations and Reporting

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Does Feline Guardians Investigate Abuse?

As a registered charity, we are required to adhere to guidelines that prohibit the investigation or doxxing of criminals, such as abusers, as these actions are not considered charitable. We lack the professional experience and training necessary to safely and ethically carry out investigations. Additionally, we do not have the legal approval to engage in such activities.

Most importantly, direct communication with abusers could lead to the acceleration and further spread of abusive behaviors.

We are happy to report news on official statements, arrests or media stories related to abuse as this is a legal act and displays progress for our movement.

Vigilantism can result in extralegal actions and unintended consequences, while undercover projects may lead to charges of conspiracy, escalation, and complicity in crimes.

Any attempts by non-professionals to collect data or “evidence” can obstruct a prosecutor’s ability to secure a conviction or interfere with an ongoing police investigation.

How to Report Abuse

The full reporting process is twelve steps, but these steps give you a quick overview of how our reporting process works.

01

Report

Please fill out the abuse reports form and provide as many details as possible. Please do not send us any media unless It’s specifically requested.

02

Review

Feline Guardians has a team dedicated to reviewing abuse reports. We immediately prioritize them and connect with the relevant law enforcement group to ensure they’re properly examined further.

03

Re-assess

Feline Guardians routinely re-assesses active reports to ensure they’re being fully investigated by law enforcement. Any updates we receive, we will share with the reporting parties

The 8 Steps to Our Abuser Reporting Process

What happens after you file your report from start to finish. You can and should report animal abuse crimes to us, even if they don’t involve cats.

Crimes involving children, elderly individuals, or disabled persons should always be reported directly to Law Enforcement and appropriate protection agencies.

Feline Guardians does not investigate crimes involving minors and cannot receive illegal child exploitation material under any circumstances. Such material must only be provided directly to police.

Step 01

Submit Your Report

You file a report about abuse you’ve seen via our convenient online report form

Step 02

Report is Reviewed

Every submission is immediately reviewed by our 24/7 response team, who assess credibility, urgency, and investigative priority.

Step 03

Information Is Verified and Organized

Our team gathers and prepares relevant evidence and identifying information that may assist investigators.

If an exact location cannot be identified, we may work with trusted international NGO partners to gather additional intelligence.

Step 04

Case Is Escalated to Law Enforcement

All credible abuse reports are forwarded to the appropriate Law Enforcement investigative unit.

Feline Guardians maintains direct relationships with police and investigative contacts in 31 countries, with extended support networks reaching up to 165 additional nations.

Step 05

Law Enforcement Opens an Investigation

Authorities begin investigative procedures according to their local laws, forensic standards, and jurisdictional requirements.

Step 06

Feline Guardians Conducts Follow-Ups

Feline Guardians maintains internal follow-up protocols and remains aware of active investigations whenever possible. Law enforcement agencies are often legally restricted from sharing case details with non-law enforcement organizations. Any updates we are authorized to share will be communicated to relevant parties, but you may not hear back from us.

Step 07

Evidence Continues To Be Preserved

If additional evidence appears after a report is submitted, preserve links, usernames, timestamps, and identifying information responsibly.

This information may later assist investigators and can often be submitted anonymously to police.

Step 08

Authorities Pursue Enforcement

Ideally, when sufficient evidence is obtained, Law Enforcement may pursue arrests, warrants, searches, seizures, or criminal charges against offenders.

Many investigations involve offenders operating across multiple countries and jurisdictions.

Unfortunately not every report will result in an arrest.

  • Criminal investigations can take anywhere from hours to many months or years depending on complexity and international coordination requirements.
  • Repeatedly contacting police departments after a report has already been submitted may interfere with an active investigation.
  • Investigators must follow strict forensic and legal procedures to maximize the likelihood of successful prosecution.
